Stephanie W. Telles is the Founder and CEO of Otoño Consulting, LLC. a Latina-owned firm embarking on a transformative journey toward a more inclusive, ethical, and fraud-resistant future. She is a Native New Mexican, the product of its public schools, its rich diversity and culture, and of course its world famous chile.
Prior to launching Otoño Consulting, LLC, Stephanie served as the Director for the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Spokesperson for the New Mexico Office of the State Auditor (OSA). With an unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability, Stephanie played a pivotal role in compiling, managing, and synthesizing data from audits, examinations, and financial records to generate comprehensive reports accessible to the general public. She regularly produced printed material and other media about the OSA, ensuring that the public was well-informed about the office's activities. With a flair for effective communication, building and nurturing positive working relationships with various media outlets, organizations, and journalists, Stephanie ensured that the OSA's message reached a wide audience, promoting transparency and accountability at every turn.
Previous to her work with the OSA, Stephanie served as an Analyst with Wells Fargo Bank, NA. Stephanie’s primary role was as a liaison for Statement and Remittance Control within the Personal Lending Group. Under this capacity, Stephanie served as a crucial link between the business and third-party vendors for print and remittance services. With meticulous attention to detail, Stephanie constantly sought to improve capabilities and leverage new technologies, enhancing partnerships and contributing to the development of management reports, audit and compliance efforts, and the implementation of internal controls.
Stephanie is a dynamic and passionate educator, skillfully juggling roles as an adjunct faculty at the prestigious University of New Mexico, Anderson School of Management, where she imparts her expertise in Fraud Examination and Forensic Accounting. Additionally, she contributes her expertise as a part-time accounting faculty member at Central New Mexico Community College, School of Business, Hospitality, & Technology. Stephanie's commitment to nurturing diverse learners and her engaging teaching approach create a positive and enriching learning environment, empowering her students to excel in their academic and professional pursuits.
Stephanie is a card-carrying member of the sandwich generation, and her most important and fulfilling role is mother to a smart, strong, and kind daughter born in 2020 and daughter/caregiver to her mother who lives with Lewy Body dementia and overlapping Alzheimer’s disease. She has been married to her incredible husband, an educator and administrator with the Albuquerque Public Schools, since 2013. Stephanie holds a bachelor’s degree in government and philosophy – with an emphasis on ethics – from New Mexico State University, an MBA from the University of New Mexico, and is a Certified Fraud Examiner. Prior honors include the 2020 Diverse Business Leader Award and the 2018 40 Under Forty.
